CJ2A Willys Jeep, Destination Moon
TINTIN
CJ2A Willys Jeep - Destination Moon (1953) Hergé was inspired by the Willys CJ2A to draw the Destination Moon Jeep. It was the first civil-made jeep, its production began on July 17, 1945 and 214,760 units were manufactured between 1945 and 1949. The Civil Jeeps (intended especially for agricultural work) were inspired by the famous Willys MB launched five years earlier and used by the US Army during the Second World War. Victory being close, Willys planned to launch a Jeep for civilian use. Few people know that the CJ2A had two ancestors: the CJ-1 (May 44) and the CJ-2 (1944/45) better known as AgriJeep.
The blue Jeep, scale 1/43, comes from the album "Destination Moon" which Cuthbert Calculus is the driver and the passengers are: Haddock, Tintin and Snowy.
